St Andrew’s Church, Old Headington
This beautiful, partly medieval Tower had been encapsulated in a thick layer of very hard cement render sometime in the 1970s / 80s. The result was that by 2015 the render was failing and the surrounding stone, where exposed, was suffering serious damage. The Tower needed urgent repairs and after careful consideration it was decided to remove cement render, repair the Tower and shelter coated it to help preserve the original stone that was crumbling and failing in many areas.Careful removal of cement render, small area at a time was followed by tile repairs, limited stone replacement and shelter coating in lime.
Project Cost – £110,000
